Quick answer: As of October 28, 2026, plan on 30 FPS for GTA 6 on PS5 Pro at launch. Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson said the console builds run at 30 FPS in development and that his technical team still has to decide whether a 60 FPS option comes at launch or later. Sony lists GTA 6 as “PS5 Pro Enhanced”, but neither Sony nor Rockstar has published a frame rate, resolution or graphics mode for the PS5 Pro. Anything above 30 FPS on PS5 Pro is a rumor for now. We will measure it ourselves on launch day and update this page.

Launch-day PS5 Pro FPS checklist
Tick as you go on November 19. Saved in this browser only.
Frame-time reference: 30 FPS = 33.3 ms per frame, 40 FPS = 25 ms, 60 FPS = 16.7 ms.
Status key: Official = published by Sony or Rockstar. Rockstar, via press = said by a Rockstar developer and reported by the press. Measured = independent technical analysis of official footage. Rumor and Speculation = unconfirmed. Overstated = goes beyond what the source said.
How much FPS will GTA 6 run on PS5 Pro?
The only frame rate anyone at Rockstar has put on record is 30 FPS. During a studio visit before the August 2026 Extended Look, Rockstar North co-director Rob Nelson told Brazilian outlet Flow Games that the console builds were running at 30 FPS during development. Asked about 60 FPS, he said the technical team would need to decide whether that option arrives at launch or later, and he did not rule it out. He gave no resolution or ray tracing details. VGC, Inven Global and TweakTown all reported the same account.
That statement covers PlayStation 5 consoles in general. Nobody at Rockstar has described a separate PS5 Pro frame rate, in either direction.
What does “PS5 Pro Enhanced” mean for GTA 6?
Sony’s GTA VI page shows the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” badge and lists the release for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro on November 19, 2026. The badge tells you Rockstar has done PS5 Pro-specific work. It does not tell you what that work is: the page gives no frame rate, no resolution and no list of graphics modes. A higher frame rate, a sharper image, better ray tracing, or a mix are all possible readings until Rockstar publishes details or the game is tested.
What has been measured so far?
Digital Foundry analysed the Extended Look, which was captured on a base PS5, not a PS5 Pro. Its read: an internal resolution of about 1440p, upscaled to 4K with some softness and shimmer, and a well-paced 30 FPS with only occasional single dropped frames. Digital Foundry also said PS5 Pro performance has to wait until footage from that console exists. As of October 28, 2026, we have found no published analysis of GTA 6 running on a PS5 Pro.
Why the Pro might not simply double the frame rate: Digital Foundry points to the CPU, which runs the city simulation (traffic, crowds, physics). As reported by TweakTown, it notes that the PS5 Pro’s CPU is almost the same as the base PS5’s, while its gains are in the GPU and ray tracing. That is an expert expectation, not a test result.
Rumors about 60 FPS on PS5 Pro
- Rumor: “60 FPS on PS5 Pro.” Claimed by YouTuber HipHopGamer and covered by VICE on August 29, 2026. VICE noted he is not usually considered a Rockstar insider and that Rockstar has announced no such mode.
- Rumor: leaked Sony requirements for the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” badge mention a 4K or stable 60 FPS target. Reported by TweakTown in September 2026. These are general Sony guidelines, not a GTA 6 spec, and Sony has not confirmed them.
- Rumor: leaked development images show “fidelity” and “performance” modes. Reported by Notebookcheck on October 28, 2026, from an analysis posted on X of older, low-quality leak images. Even if genuine, an old build is not the retail game.
- Overstated: some sites now say Rockstar “confirmed” a final 30 FPS lock on every console. We found no Rockstar statement saying that. What Rockstar said concerns development builds, with 60 FPS left open.
Tips verified in game
None yet. GTA 6 is not out, and we only publish settings tips that we have checked on our own PS5 Pro, with screenshots. Until then, use the launch-day checklist above: it tells you what to look at so you can judge your own frame rate in the first hour.
What we don’t know yet
- The final frame rate of the retail game on PS5 Pro, or on any console.
- Whether GTA 6 has a graphics mode menu at all, and what each mode is called.
- What the PS5 Pro enhancement actually changes.
- Whether a 60 FPS or 40 FPS option arrives at launch, in a later patch, or never.
- Any measurement from real PS5 Pro hardware, ours included. Our test is scheduled for launch week.
Should you buy a PS5 Pro for GTA 6?
Not for frame rate on today’s evidence. No official source promises the PS5 Pro more than 30 FPS, and the base PS5 is a supported launch platform. If you are deciding before November 19, wait for the first PS5 Pro tests in launch week. This is general information, not financial advice.
